In 1996, a Japanese toymaker revolutionized the way the world - specifically children - viewed pets.
Bandai had introduced Tamagotchi, a fictional virtual pet from the planet Tama to kids worldwide.
Since then, the Tamagotchi inspired a generation of other games on smartphones, tablets and the desktop computers.
Fast forward 23 years later, the Tamagotchi has made its return. This time in colour.
Dubbed Tamagotchi On, the new version has glittery plastic encasing.
The eggshell cover also comes in four different variations: Magic Green, Magic Purple, Fairy Pink, and Fairy Blue.
While the key features remain the same with Bandai retaining the iconic three buttons, the latest versions can connect to one another.
Now players can hatch, care, breed their Tamagotchis while taking them out on playdates and trips with other players. There's also a gift function.
What's awesome is that Tamagotchis can be married to one another. Yes, you can raise the babies too.
There'll be an app as well which will allow players to connect to others worldwide. But kids will only be allowed to talk to people they know.
You can also send your virtual pet to the Tamagotchi Hotel. Utilizing in game currency (Gotchi points), this will come in handy for those of you who're busy.
Tamagotchis dying was a pretty common thing in the past.
Tamagotchi On is priced at US$59.99 and will be released on July 28. All set to feed and potty train your pet?
