The SandBar is the brain child of 4 locals that have lived in Umdloti for many years. After a few cocktails on the beach, one sunny December day, we envisaged a restaurant & bar that reflected a cool, vibrant and fun place for locals and holiday makers to meet and enjoy good honest food, combined with great wines and colourful cocktails. Our philosophy is a simple one: ‘Good food, friendly service, served in a relaxed environment’. Combine all those factors with one of KZN’s best restaurant locations, then we have one of Durban’s best kept secrets (not for long though!)

We have a great variety of South African wines ranging from everyday favourites to more complex international award winners. The SandBar is not only a restaurant but also a 20 seater cocktail bar and lounge, serving the most colourful intoxicating, mind numbingly, delicious local and international cocktails.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with warm colours & lighting with old images of long board surfers to beautiful photography of past generations. The feel of the SandBar is cool, relaxed with a touch of sophistication and is very welcoming.
