About Royal Jozini Private Game Reserve

Cradled in the African bush, where the azure waters of Lake Jozini dance at the feet of the mystical Lubombo Mountains in the south of Eswatini (Swaziland), Royal Jozini Private Game Reserve is a place where you can truly come to experience Africa in all its rugged magnificence, without compromising on comfort.

Did you know (and science has proved) that being in nature makes us happier, boosts our immune system and increases our attention span? And within minutes of arriving, our heart rate slows, our muscles start to relax, and regions of the brain involved in decision-making and emotions begin to quieten down? And Royal Jozini is the perfect place for you to relax, restore and regenerate!

This is 14,000 hectares of game reserve, where the vast, untouched landscape teems with wildlife. To enjoy a wealth of game, prolific bird life and the opportunity of indulging in tiger fishing, fabulous bush breaks and game viewing at Royal Jozini Game Reserve, we invite you to book that much-deserved break in one of our private bush homes! Activities in the game reserve include tiger-fishing, game drives (currently self-drive but guided drives coming soon), boat cruises (depending on availability, weather and lake conditions) and interacting with the African bushveld. The scenery is breathtaking!

On the eastern shore side of the lake - set against the Lebombo Mountains where many of the lodges are situated – you might spot warthog, water buck, kudu, nyala, impala, zebra, buffalo and wildebeest - or even an elephant or two that brave the fencing.

The west shores of Lake Jozini are arid bushveld, a flatter area with some natural water seepage, is where you will find fever tree forests, maybe sight an elephant bull or the breeding herd, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, reed buck, bush buck, water buck, giraffe, warthog and all the small antelope like duiker and steenbok.

For birders, the 5 eco systems within Royal Jozini provide homes and habitat for a huge variety of birds.

Accommodation

For bush break accommodation, Royal Jozini Private Game Reserve offers self-catering unique and different private homes - and a tented camp. Game Drives when using the game reserve accommodation:

For an independent stay at the game lodges, you can explore Royal Jozini Game Reserve on your own, with roads interweaving through the game reserve, around the lake, and at the base of the Lebombo Mountains – with spectacular African bush scenery (four by four needed for some routes). Our guided game drives are being planned for the not too distant future.

Lodge domestic help:

When booking Royal Jozini’s accommodation, there are housekeepers on hand to assist wherever necessary, and all lodges are supplied with quality towels, crisp linen, drinkable water and more.

Covid-19 Protocols:

Each bush home has a dedicated housekeeper. For your safety during Covid-19, she will keep her distance and wash up and clean living areas and bathrooms only, but will not make beds. When you book your bush home, you will stay in your own “bubble”. A Covid test is required to come into Eswatini, so you will know that all in your party are safe!

Eco friendly:

All game reserve bush home accommodation is eco-friendly, and have boma’s and braai places and modern amenities. However, we are ECO friendly and totally OFF GRID, so guests should please be aware to conserve power – and to note that nappies, wipes and any other foreign object cannot be flushed due to the septic tanks.

WIFI and connectivity:

As our accommodation is in private homes and we are not a hotel, WIFI is generally not provided, so please ensure that you have data roaming (not expensive through SADC countries). Driving close to the marina at the RSA border can enable you to pick up signal there.
