ABOUT RIVER RAFTING WITH RAPIDESCENT ADVENTURES

Whether you are after a peaceful paddle down the scenic river, or you’re hankering after the thrill of tackling the rapids, RapiDescent River Rafting Adventures is guaranteed to deliver. This adventure is situated on the Crocodile River (although there is no danger of crocodiles in the rapids), close to Hartbeespoort Dam in the North West Province and is fantastic for everyone over the age of eight years.

Head out onto the water for a 2.5 hour rafting adventure after a full safety briefing. The rapids are rated 1 (very small and easy to negotiate), 2 (a few small technical areas that pose no danger, even if you fall out of the raft), and 3 (a bit more technical, you will need to steer yourself through the obstacles). In times of flooding, this can escalate to a more challenging 4. The guides are experienced and well qualified, amply equipped to prepare you for what to expect and to bail you out of any situations that take you by surprise.

This adventure is located inside the Lion & Safari Park in Broederstroom, where lions, hyenas, wild dogs and many different antelope species can be seen roaming their natural habitat. There are even friendly giraffes, Perdy and Zoe, that often approach the game viewer vehicle to meet their latest visitors. The drive through the park is about 20 minutes long, so have your cameras ready for some excellent wildlife shots.

All safety gear is provided for the river rafting, which includes a life jacket and a helmet. The adventure begins at 08h30 and ends at about 12h30. Each raft accommodates two people - one to paddle and one to steer. Halfway along the river, you will stop and enjoy a refreshment to get your energy back before heading out again for a really fun morning. Little ones must have adult supervision and bookings are essential to avoid disappointment.

Broederstroom is a small town at the foot of the majestic Magaliesberg Mountains. It is picturesque, and promises visitors an authentic outdoorsy experience of the spectacular South African countryside.
