Chef Crystal Wentzel was born in Cape Town and raised in the famous Cape wine region of South Africa.
“My first job was in a German owned restaurant in Paarl, it taught me a lot about the great possibilities of cooking and also how to make a Strudel Call, my first own award winning recipe!
Then I stayed in the wine region near Capetown to develop my cooking skills and worked in some famous restaurants.
I enriched my tastes, my curiosity for new recipes and after a few years decided to further explore the wonderful world of culinary gastronomy.
During this period, I experienced the great possibilities of seafood while being sous-chef in the Caviar Restaurant group.
I had the chance to work with Chef Gabriel Leroux who opened my eyes and allowed me to discover molecular gastronomy.
