ABOUT RESTAURANT DE KELDER
With its warm and welcoming atmosphere, upmarket De Kelder offers an enticing menu, fuelled by a passionate chef and exemplary service. The menu says it all, starting with delicacies such as Kadaifi Prawns - Queen Prawns stuffed into camembert cheese, wrapped in finely shredded phyllo pastry and deep fried, topped with preserved fig, Springbok Carpaccio or smoked salmon rösti galette - layered Norwegian salmon, rösti potatoes and cream cheese.
The seafood selection is spectacular, with delicious twists on traditional preparation, such as the Calamari Dolma, Kingklip Mexicane and Sole de Kelder - East Coast Sole grilled and topped with calamari, mussels and cocktail prawns in a cream sauce.
The same notion applies to the steaks, which are served flame-grilled and tender, with unique toppings and flavours such as the Grecian Fillet - Grilled beef fillet smothered in a creamy spinach and feta sauce, Fillet Bastille, which is a pan-fried beef fillet in a creamy sauce with green peppercorns and a dash of brandy or the Fillet Au Poivre – a grilled beef fillet rolled in crushed black peppercorns and topped with a red wine and bone marrow sauce, finished off with béarnaise sauce.
The piece de resistance is apparently the Chateaubriand for two - 650g whole fillet of beef, carved at your table and flambéed with brandy and served with asparagus, black mushrooms and a béarnaise sauce.
