SA band reunites for picnic concert at The Maslow, Sandton

Ballyhoo needs no introduction with their iconic ‘Man on the Moon’, a hit that topped the charts in 1981 and that remains popular today.

What some may not know, although the band originated out of Ireland, they are a South African band.

The rock ‘n roll group will return to the city where they formed in 1974, when they serenade picnic-goers at The Maslow in Sandton.

The group, with Irish members Derrick Dryan and Fergie Ferguson, dominated the music scene in the 70s and 80s and are now back with a newly reformed outfit with the addition of guitarist, Ralph Martin, who was part of the ‘Man on the Moon’ era.

The Maslow’s leafy green gardens are the perfect backdrop for guests to relax, tuck into a gourmet picnic and enjoy some music on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Ballyhoo will play iconic classics such as ‘Man on the Moon’ as well as new material like ‘Gotta Have A Little’ that was released in October last year.
