Pakamisa Private Game Reserve in northern KwaZulu-Natal, is a private, exclusive reserve open to residential guests only. The lodge is majestically perched on the high plateau of the Pakamisa Mountain with breath-taking views of the evergreen valleys and plains of the Pongola River to the east and the rolling hills of natural bush of the Reserve in the west.

The lodge has a limit of 16 guests. The unique Spanish architecture is blended with

the finest African ambiance. Pakamisa offers a variety of dining experiences: enjoy sumptuous breakfasts in the bush; delicious alfresco lunches on the panoramic veranda; and an elegant formal 4 course dinner in the gracious El Prado restaurant.
The Reserve’s vast 2,500 hectare can be explored on horseback, in an open vehicle or on foot. Try a horse back safari, with its gentle pace and proximity to nature.

This is a spectacular way to view game, and Pakamisa welcomes both beginners and advanced riders. Riding schedules are tailored to suit each group, starting from a beginner’s lesson of half an hour, to a daily ride of up to four hours, breaking for a romantic bush breakfast or picnic. A knowledgeable guide will explain the fascinating life cycles of insects, plants and trees and the behaviour patterns of mammals, big and small, giving you a chance to experience the magic of the African bush. There is a range of activities at Pakamisa – try your hand at archery, air rifle or clay target shooting. Or simply relax at the pool with magnificent its views. Pakamisa is predator & malaria free, creating a safe environment for a range of activities for adults and children not generally available in BIG 5 Reserves.

Pakamisa guarantees that all Covid protocols are strictly adhered to, and our staff have been fully briefed and trained.
Despite the difficult times that the world is facing, time stands still in the bush. Peace and quiet are our normal and nothing can beat a holiday in the African veld. Pakamisa offers a range of activities and our speciality is horseback safaris. We are happy to accommodate both novice and experienced riders; with height and weight restrictions for the rider.
