In a true moment of serendipity, Rustenburg resident Harry Savva won a new Mercedes Benz 300d GLE in the Sun City Most Valued Guest (MVG) draw in January 2023, mirroring his father’s luck previously.

Savva was excited to get up on stage and claim his prize through a lucky draw as his father had won a decent amount of cash at another Sun International casino 29-years previously, almost to the day. “If something is meant to be, it’s literally written in the stars. We have a little bit of luck running through the family.”

In total, 14 winners benefited from the promotion that commenced end of last year, open to qualifying MGVs. The overall prize pool was a share of R2.3million in Cash, XtraPlay and the Mercedes Benz 300d GLE. Many more people walked away winners over the festive season, sharing a total of R12.7-million in jackpots over December 2022 and R16-million over January 2023.

According to Khensani Mailula, the Resort’s Gaming Manager, “There is always something bright and exciting happening at Sun City Casino – the first casino in South Africa to introduce the concept of million Rand jackpots decades ago. Savva owns a fast food outlet just outside the popular holiday resort. He will be selling the vehicle to purchase a property in the area.

His lucky number is five, the month in which he was born, while the 29th is, apart from the number of years between father and son wins, his birthday. Savva adds that staff at Sun City were overjoyed for him. “They were all waving at me when I drove the car and giving me their congratulations.”
