Plum Restaurant

PLUM restaurant, sister to the acclaimed JAM restaurant in Morningside, offers guests and the public, an exciting choice of breakfasts, lunches and dinners. The menu is a culinary delight and incorporates a wide variety of options to suit every pallet. With special emphasis on the freshest ingredients.

The interior is casual with a modern and contemporary twist, offering guests a unique social experience. Wide open spaces on the outside terrace boast a tranquil view of the famous Essenwood park across the road. On Saturday mornings the park comes alive with shoppers at the craft market. Head Chef Jason is looking forward to winter. Good old favourites like oxtail, great winter seafood catches, lavish desserts and a brilliant selection of fine South African reds all mean winter to him.

PL8 Restaurant

In close proximity to Florida Road, the business and recreational ‘high street’ of Morningside, the Hotel enjoys the best of the quiet private street and the convenience of the accessible entertainment and public activities.

PL8 is geared towards fresh, seasonal, healthy and nutritious foods. We aim to create a fine dining experience with a South African flavour and are praised for providing very wholesome food that is presented and plated in a modern, chick manner and is visually open to the kitchen.

The open kitchen has matured me as a chef. It has taught me patience and temperament, but for the most it is GREAT! I get to watch people enjoying their meal after they have watched me prepare their food. As a chef it is truly rewarding to have people stand at the pass and talk about my methods of cooking, ask questions and learn about the ingredients. I believe it becomes an interactive experience as opposed to just a meal out.

JAM Restaurant is one of the most spoken about restaurants in the city. It’s simple and cosmopolitan design is a result of the owners superb attention to details with cool silvers, striking blacks and charcoals with accents of bright pink fuchsia make this destination a treat on its own!

The dining experience embraces the local ingredients from this tropical environment, with only the freshest organic (where possible) items featuring on the al a carte menu. The Edwardian style architecture embraces JAM as being a restaurant that one just has to experience when visiting Durban.
