A short two and half hour drive from Durban will get you to Bayete Zulu Lodge.

The Lodge is unique for several reasons: The first is that the 4 Star Establishment is small and personal – just 8 Luxury boutique rooms, all en suite, with spacious sunken baths, open showers and a separate toilet.

Each beautifully decorated room has luxury twin beds with a double fold-out ottoman for the children. All the rooms are equipped with mosquito nets, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and a mini bar that is well stocked with a selection of beverages and light snacks. Second, its child friendly. Bayete Zulu welcome children and even have a Pumba Club, a junior clubhouse complete with trampoline, playground, playstation games, and other toys and activities and of course

A swimming pool. Other activities for children include poop spotting, skull identification, children’s game drives, African beading, baking and guided walks.

Wake up to the morning calls of the creatures of the bush and have an early bird breakfast, followed by a game drive. Mornings can be spent lazing at the pool, or treating yourself to a massage or facial at the Spa. An a la carte lunch is served to you at the pool deck, followed by a lazy afternoon relaxing.

Dinners are either served in the Restaurant ( 3 Course ) or on weekends a Boma dinner in the Rano Boma. A separatechildren’s menu is available offering favorites like bangers and mash, fish and chips, spaghetti bolognaise and macaroni cheese.

The reserve purchased as a farm back in December 1999 has been lovingly rehabilitated to its former glory. Bayete Zulu is considered to be one of the most densely stocked and ecologically balanced reserves in Northern Kwa Zulu Natal – The diversity of its flora and high carrying capacity make this an animal Eden, ensuring guests that regardless of weather or circumstance they will always enjoy excellent game viewing. Bayete is also the only Game reserve in Kwa Zulu Natal to offer Elephant Interaction. Meet the majestic “Rambo” and “Rachel”. We are also very proud to have just released two black rhino onto the reserve.

Other facilities at Bayete include small conferences up to 16 people, Intimate Weddings and Spa. A treatment at the Spa could be followed by a relaxing Jacuzzi, or even better and intimate Jacuzzi dinner for two. Child minders can be arranged. Alternatively spoil yourself with a bush dinner and enjoy an evening of culinary delight in the wild.
